Dear Arizona PAs,

I am requesting your vote to continue my service as an Arizona delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates (HOD). I am honored to have been a member of the PA profession for the past 13 years – my clinical background is in family medicine, and I am currently working as a PA educator. I have been involved with ASAPA for the entire 13 years of my career, serving in various roles including the CME, Public Relations, and Membership Committees, as well as prior service on the board of directors as Secretary.

Of all the service I have provided to ASAPA, my greatest pride is in the service I have provided in the role of delegate to the AAPA HOD. I have been a delegate since 2005, and have served in the role of Chief Delegate for five of those years. I am honored and humbled to have had the opportunity to represent Arizona PAs at the national level, participating in discussions and decisions that guide policies, procedures, and philosophies that guide the future of our profession.

In addition to my duties as delegate, I have also served on four different reference committees in the House over the years, and will continue that service this year, as I have been appointed to Reference Committee A for the upcoming HOD meeting in Las Vegas. Serving on reference committees involves completing an even more in-depth analysis of the resolutions discussed during the HOD, and has led to an even greater understanding of the culture and inner workings of the HOD. I have also served on the HOD Standing Rules committee since 2015. This past year this committee was charged with doing a complete analysis and overhaul of the standing rules to ensure we had procedures in place for both in-person and virtual meetings. Completing this work has allowed me to have an even better understanding of the parliamentary rules and procedures that dictate how the HOD functions.

My goal as a delegate has always been to make sure your individual PA voice continues to be heard at the national PA level. This has been accomplished in recent years by surveying our members on perceived controversial resolutions. Additionally, my many years of involvement in ASAPA have allowed me to have a good understanding of the PA culture in Arizona. Having this familiarity and understanding of AZ PAs allows me to best decide how to vote on the ultimate, amended, final resolutions that are presented at the HOD meetings.

Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to the possibility of working with you over the next two years!

As an Arizona native, I believe I was blessed when I was accepted to AT Still universities PA program. While I was a student I became involved with ASAPA and as a new grad I continued my commitment to the organization, a commitment to holds through to this day. I have served as an officer on the board and even volunteered on the House of Delegates floor at the AAPA conferences. I found the process very exciting. It was a true window into the world of planning for our profession.

With the current discussions about items such as FPAR, I have had a resurgence in my desire to be involved on the national level. I feel representing the ASAPA organization at the AAPA conference is the best way for me to advance our profession in a responsible manner while representing the desires of my local colleagues.
