The ASAPA Student Challenge Bowl is an opportunity for teams and observers to support a friendly environment, even during a competitive event. Collegiality, professionalism, and sportsmanship amongst teams and support of each team’s success is paramount. Aligned with the AAPA Challenge Bowl Rules and Regulations, inappropriate behavior by participants, faculty, alumni, or observers will not be tolerated.
|How many teams per school?
||2 per school. An A team and a B team.
|How many students per team?
||3 plus 1 alternate
|Any restrictions regarding didactic vs. clinical students on each team?
||Each team must have at least one didactic (first year) student who is not an alternate and participates in the challenge.
|Do challenge bowl participants have to be ASAPA members?
||Yes each participant and alternate must be an ASAPA student member. Reminder ASAPA student membership is free with current AAPA student membership. Go to www.asapa.org to become a member.
|Can non-registered guests of the conference attend the challenge bowl?
||Yes it is open to guests.
|Is there a reception associated with the challenge bowl?
||Yes we will have light hors d’oeuvres and cash bar available
|Is there a prize for the winning team?
||As last year’s challenge bowl winner, NAU is responsible for bringing the trophy.
Winner will get: Acknowledgement in newsletters, on website, and bragging rights.
Heat 1: NAU A vs MWU A
Heat 2: ATSU A vs NAU B
Heat 3: ATSU B vs MWU B
*Round 1 will consist of 10 questions each worth +10 points for a correct answer and -10 points for an incorrect answer.
Heat 1: Winner of Round 1, heat 1 vs Winner of Round 1, heat 2
Heat 2: Winner of Round 1, heat 3 vs Losing team with highest point total from round 1
*Round 2 will consist of 10 questions each worth +10 points for a correct answer and -10 points for an incorrect answer.
Round 3 (championship):
Winner Round 2 heat 1 vs Winner Round 2 heat 2
*The Championship round will consist of 15 questions each worth +10 points for a correct answer and -10 points for an incorrect answer.
Round 4 (Winner vs Faculty):
Winning Student Team vs Faculty (1 from each PA program)
*This round will consist of 10 questions each worth +10 points for correct answer and -10 points for incorrect answer.
